Too Soon To Write Off Google+

Venture capitalist Michael Arrington has contended that Google could once have purchased Twitter for the sum of 5 billion dollars. He has added that Google did not acquire Twitter because it was focused on the development of Google+. One commentator has suggested that Google made a mistake by not buying Twitter, even arguing that Google+ is widely perceived as a failure. Any such judgement on Google+ arguably appears to be premature.

Google seems to have antagonised some people by pushing Google+ aggressively. If Google had bought Twitter that might have annoyed some users of the platform and it could have contributed to the perception that the search engine is too powerful. Google+ has got some distinctive features which make it appealing. It is also true that Google has demonstrated a significant commitment to it. Maintaining that it is already a failure does not seem a tenable position.

Link building cannot prosper to the maximum if potential opportunities are scorned. Sector-based rivals could take advantage of the diversity of chances that are out there. The use of Google+ can be effective at the moment and it may well be more productive in the future. Ignoring this possibility could mean that a site does not do so well in the long term. Link building and website optimization takes time. It is a complex business and positive results are not achieved overnight. The best strategy is to focus on the specifics of a site and adapt a wide range of tactics to promote the interests of it in a gradual fashion.
